Announcements New Book Displays at the Library The library is running several new displays through the month of February celebrating Black History Month, 92nd Academy Awards, and Valentine’s Day. The ZORA Canon book display provides a sampling of the 100 greatest books ever written by African American Women. Titles dating back to the 1800’s covering social issues, topics of feminism, plays & poetry, and biographies are available to view and check out. A small display featuring the works of Jason Reynolds is also available. Jason has been named the 2020-2021 National Ambassador for Young People’s literature, and has won numerous awards both for his writing and social activism. In celebration of the 92nd Academy Awards the library now has on display every best picture winner going back to the very first Academy Award show in 1928. Stop in to browse the titles, see how many you have seen, and take a film home that you have not seen. Finally the library is celebrating the month of love with Blind Date with a Book. This display of covered books has been carefully selected by your librarians and staff offering some of the most romantic and steamy titles in our collection. The colorful heart description on each book gives you just a taste of what to expect until you check it out and unwrap it back home for an unforgettable evening of reading bliss. Legendary: Inside the House Ballroom Scene - Library Gallery Gerard Gaskin, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, is a freelance photographer with works published in newspapers and magazines through the United States and abroad. His latest photo book Legendary: Inside the House Ballroom Scene documents the performative and aesthetic history of the African American and Latino House Ballroom community since 1993 to date. Gerard Gaskin’s art work is currently displayed at the Butcher Library gallery wall.
